A new superyacht marina is to be built on the Caribbean island of St Kitts. A total of 12 permanent superyacht berths are for sale in Christophe Harbour starting at $2.5 million for a 60-metre berth. Larger berths of 68 and 73 metres will be priced at US$10,000 per foot. The marina will also feature a further 288 berths for transient yachts ranging in size from 175 metres down to 25. To create the marina, the developers will blast and dredge a channel from Whitehouse Bay into the caldera of an extinct volcano (above), where the controlling draught will be 5.4 metres.
The plans include a 300-acre harbour village and marina, with 2,000 residential properties being sold at $5 million an acre. The marina is due for completion within the next three years. Two hotels and a golf course will then be built over a ten-year period. Randy Shelton, director of sales, told SYW that he is confident he will get deposits on six superyacht berths within weeks of them becoming available.
