The inaugural Mediterranean Yacht Show, held last week in Nafplion and hosted by the new Greek Yachting Association, proved to be an excellent showcase for chartering in the region, with around 60 charter yachts on show. The biggest in the show was the 50-metre Alexandra, a Benetti shown by Big Blue Yachting, and there were a host of service companies showcasing their wares, while guests could attend a range of seminars and social events. Among the guests attending the show were the Greek Minister of Shipping & the Aegean Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, Minister of Energy Yiannis Maniatis and the Deputy Minister of Culture Ionnanis Andrianos, showing the interest of the Greek government in superyachting. “We chose Nafplion as the location of the show due to its proximity to Athens and the airport, its historical importance and its natural beauty,” says Michael Skoulikidis, president of the Greek Yachting Association. “The results justified this, with an impressive number of attending brokers from the leading global firms, a fleet of 57 yachts and a social calendar to match.”
