Fire damages superyacht docked in Jersey

A fire broke out on superayacht Dardanella over the weekend. The 36.9m luxury yacht was docked at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City when she caught fire.

Firefighters responded to a fire onboard the Dardanella Saturday afternoon and left almost two hours later. An official said the coastguard responded but they weren’t involved in controlling the blaze.

According to news reports the fire originated in one of her lowerdeck staterooms.

The damage is reported to be moderate. Fortunately no one was injured in the blaze.

Dardanella was built by Vitters Shipyard. Her owner wanted a yacht that they could explore remote parts of the world in without attracting attention. Her appearance, designed by Vripack Naval Architects, is based on traditional deep-sea well-deck trawlers, sitting somewhere between a luxury yacht and a commercial vessel.
