The first of Amels’ 55-metre series made her debut on sea trial last week. Step One is part of the yard’s hugely successful Limited Editions range of superyachts, which comprises four models between 55 metres and 74 metres. The stylish Tim Heywood-designed exterior is already proven and the yacht boasts a 30% bigger salon than the 52.3-metre Limited Editions Bel Abri launched in 2010. Step One also has a beamier sky lounge and a longer sundeck than the earlier yacht. The fully customised interior is by Laura Sessa.
All tests were completed to the satisfaction of Lloyd’s Register and the owner’s representative, Moran Yachts & Ship. “This design has now been tried and tested, which means that there were no surprises. After a very productive day, everybody went home smiling,” says Amels project manager Roeland Berrevoets.
Amels says the Limited Editions range “bridges the gap between semi-custom and full custom yachts”, offering the benefits of a proven platform, a quicker delivery time and cost benefits. Owners have can opt for a fully custom interior.
Step One is due for delivery at the end of April. Amels has 12 new construction projects and two major refits under way.Tags: Amels , Laura Sessa , Moran Yacht & Ship , Tim Heywood
