Built to sail the Indonesian waters, the reinvented phinisi/ 50-metre gaff topsail schooner Zen has been launched and taken her maiden voyage to Bali from Semarang, Java, where she was completed after being built in Sulawesi. In ironwood, teak and sono wood, she has six guest suites and features Philippe Starck accessories and a B&O audio system. As you’ll see in our gallery below, her interior takes inspiration from her birthplace, with elegant dark woods accented with Indonesian art and details. Polynesian and Maori cultures were also a design key, say the designers.

“The plan is to start sailing in September,” says Pawel Marczak of management company Global Adventure Group. “We will go to Flores, Komodo, Timor, Ambon, Banda Sea, Raja Ampat and Papua New Guinea at the end of the year.”
