Denison Yacht Sales has announced in an industry first that it will accept online payment system Bitcoin as currency for yacht sales and charters.

President of Denison Yacht Sales Bob Denison says: “”We need to be present and available to all potential clients in all marketplaces and if a client wants to pay with Bitcoins, we are now positioned to handle the transaction. With the sale of just one medium sized yacht using this currency, we would be poised to make the largest Bitcoin transaction in history.”

Bitcoin has been growing in popularity over the past year, and can be used globally to purchase a variety of goods. Denison says: “we’ve had clients ask us about Bitcoin in the past, but we didn’t have the ability to accept it. In 2013 we began offering clients a multi-currency account that enables us to safely accept deposits from over a dozen currencies, including Euros, British pounds, Australian dollars, Japanese Yen and Chinese dollars (Renminbi).

This account allows us to offer our clients a secure place to keep deposits and avoid the headaches that accompany currency fluctuations during the period of time it takes to close a yacht, which can extend into months. Not only did we find this a great service for buyers, but our selling clients, who trust us to list and market their yachts, loved that we were able to attract international clients to their boats with this account.

We realized that our ability to safely accept various currencies, including a digital currency like Bitcoin, and distribute these funds in U.S. Dollars, was a real service to our selling clients. We can accept Bitcoin on an unlimited basis. As far as I know, we’re actually one of the few companies that have the ability to accept Bitcoin payments with literally no limit whatsoever, which would be very appealing to a client that wanted to purchase or charter a superyacht.”

Payments will be processed through BitPay the world’s largest bitcoin payment service provider.
