Where is Rosewood Little Dix Bay?
The 500-acre resort stretches across a secluded bay on Virgin Gorda. The British Virgin Islands’ status as a national park means the islands are some of the most unspoilt and green in the Caribbean.
What’s the appeal?
It’s an ideal alternative Caribbean destination, set in calmer surroundings than the more popular islands. Naturally, the resort has the unsnobbish high-level service you would expect from many Caribbean retreats, but the sheer efforts of the staff to give guests an unforgettable experience shine here, and each room feels like a private villa.
What makes it special?
Cleverly built so that the rooms are hidden from the beach, it connects with its environment in all aspects. The hilltop Sense Spa, with its own infinity pool and private balconies for post- treatment relaxing, is sensational. Spend your days on the resort’s unspoilt beach, where you can spot giant turtles playing in the shallow waters from your lounger or grab a Hobie Cat or kayak; jump on the resort’s boat to snorkel remote spots and speed to beaches around the island for private picnics.
Our favourite room
The four-bedroom Villa Joy: set in the hills with breathtaking panoramic bay views, it has a pool and dining veranda.
Where to dine
For an unforgettable evening, book a private dinner on the beach, where you’ll enjoy stellar fresh food just feet from the lapping ocean, lit by tiki torches. The elegant, intimate Sugar Mill serves incredible fresh seafood and fine wines as well as an ‘amusaries’ taster menu of the chef’s favourites, and the more informal Pavilion, the perfect breakfast spot, has delicious Caribbean and Asian buffets and an à la carte evening menu.
What we say
Friendly, attentive staff and the perfect combination of relaxing and entertaining make this resort one that you’ll want to return to as soon as you leave.
What they say
“A truly authentic destination tamed for sophisticated tastes, the timeless boutique resort offers tranquillity found nowhere else in the Caribbean.”
How to get there
Land your private jet at Tortola Beef Island, or fly with American Airlines from San Juan – the resort’s private luxury catamaran meets guests at the airport. Alternatively the marina at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is designed for superyachts and a tender ride from Rosewood Little Dix Bay’s dock. We flew with BA: flights to San Juan from London Gatwick start from £503 return.
