Superyacht designer Andrew Winch has designed a suite at ICEHOTEL, the hotel in northernmost Sweden made entirely out of ice and snow. Andrew Winch Designs beat hundreds of artists to win the commission to design a suite. The design, inspired by his work with the BLUE Marine Foundation, features a ceiling carved into the shape of a whale skeleton. Above the bed, a panel of ice feautres three whales circling the foundation’s logo.

The project took Winch and two team members to the hotel, 200km north of the Arctic Circle in Jukkasjärvi, where temperatures regularly dip to -30°C and there are only three hours of sunlight per day. The suite will last until the spring before it melts.

The profits from AWD’s work on the project were donated to BLUE.
