The luxury resort development at EnglishPoint — just outside Mombasa in Kenya — is to have a marina offering 88 berths up to 40m (130ft).

EnglishPoint is the initiative of Kenyan brothers Alnoor and Amyn Kanji who have already successfully built and operated the Pinewood Village Beach resort south of Mombasa. When finished, it will have a hotel, restaurant, spa, gym, water sports centre and retail outlets. The marina will be completed in 2012.

“We plan to open up Kenya to the international superyacht market,” Alnoor Kanji told Superyacht Business Newsletter. “The berths will offer a full range of services including water, electricity, internet, sewerage clearance and satellite TV.”

UK marina pontoon manufacturer Walcon is a partner in the marina project. Civil engineering consultants Beckett Rankine carried out the feasibility study.
