The delivery this year of five yachts totalling 466m (1,528ft) is described by the German superyacht builder Lürssen as “another milestone” in its long history. The five range between 60m (196ft) and 124m (406ft).
“This is a record because we will not deliver so many in the coming years,” a spokeswoman told SB. “Next year we will have three deliveries of less than 300m (984ft). We currently have about 10 yachts in build” she adds.
Of the five deliveries this year, November will see the completion of the 85m (278ft) Joel described as having a “radical design by German Frers.” Joel follows in the wake of the 110m (360ft) Radiant delivered in February. Solesmates II, a 60m (196ft) Espen Oeino/Glade Johnson designed yacht at the end of July, and the 87m (285ft) Phoenix 2 styled by Andrew Winch, also in July.
The delivery prior to Joel was the biggest of the year namely the 124m (406ft) Katara delivered in August which includes having the Lürssen CODMADE environmentally-friendly propulsion system and with interior design by Albert Pinto.
In another move Lürssen has updated its Repair and Refit brochure, which can be requested at wecare@lurssen.com. The company said in a press statement that: “With their five shipyards in northern Germany as well as their technical capabilities and a team of over 1,400 craftsmen, engineers and service personnel, Lürssen is able to realise any repair, refit or conversion in a shipyard that sets new standards in terms of technology, design, safety and, of course, environmental sustainability.”
