The famous Cantieri di Pisa yard is back after selling the first hull in its Luca Dini-designed, all-aluminium 42-metre range.
The semi-displacement Akhir 42S has been sold to a Japanese client and is pegged for delivery in the spring of 2018. Luca Dini’s exterior preserves much of the Akhir marque’s athletic styling, with strong horizontal lines and the shark’s-nose bow dominating. One modern aspect of the yacht is the appearance of a sky lounge, rather than an open upper deck in the previous incarnations of the Akhir.
Inside, the owner’s cabin is on the main deck forward and benefits from folding terraces. A key aspect of the interior lounges are the floor-to-ceiling windows, while the horizontal bands of smoked glass on the main and lower deck provide some styling symmetry. A big beach club area has been created, offering another area for guests.
Powered by twin 1,432kW MTUs, the Akhir 42S has a projected top speed of 19 knots. The Cantieri di Pisa yard was taken over by Mondomarine in 2015 and is currently also offering a Luca Dini-designed 22.5-metre steel yacht.
