Over the Easter weekend the yachting industry was struck with the terribly sad news that Ed Dubois had passed away aged 64.

After a period of ill health last year, Ed had returned to work, before he was unexpectedly admitted to hospital two weeks ago. He passed away on Thursday 25th March.

Ed Dubois began designing yachts at a young age, before eventually setting up his own design company, Dubois Naval Architects. With his team he was responsible for creating some of the most innovative sailing superyachts of recent years, including Silvertip, Bliss, Mondango 3, Kokomo, Twizzle, Ohana and Feadship superyachts Lady May (ex-Como) and Kiss. Also in build is a 58-metre sloop at Royal Huisman.

Ed Dubois

Ed Dubois was one of the most recognisable designers in the industry, with his infectious smile and shock of white hair. Always a great friend to SuperYacht World, he will be very sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The funeral is to be a private, family service, but there will be a memorial service in the near future for all who wish to celebrate his life and many achievements, both on and off the water.
