HJB to build second J-Class

Dutch superyacht builder Holland Jachtbouw (HJB) has signed an order to build a replica of the J-Class yacht Yankee.

The contract for the 37.5m (123ft) yacht was signed by Simon Dierdorp, the leader of the syndicate, at last week’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Yankee is intended to be ready in time for the J-Class regatta events planned to coincide the the London 2012 Olympics.

Building will commence in October 2010 at Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw in Makkum for delivery to HJB in Zaandam in 2011.

HJB is also currently building the J-Class yacht Rainbow.

The original Yankee was launched in 1930. Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects has followed the original template of Frank C Paine to redesign the yacht.
