Launched today: Lürssen's latest 120-plus-metre monster
Launching today is Lürssen’s astonishing Project Thunder. The yard is billing her as “a 120-metre-plus yacht”, although it is thought that her length overall is around 130 metres. Details of the new yacht are thin on the ground but exterior styling is by Espen Øino. Project Thunder was launched from the floating dock, 24 months after her keel was laid in 2015.
She will be delivered towards the end of 2018 and is expected to cruise mostly in Asian waters. The project name of ‘Thunder’ is derived from Lei Gong, the mythical god of thunder in traditional Chinese and Taoist beliefs.
“The traditionally styled interior will be installed in the coming months and the yacht will undergo extensive sea trials thereafter as is the norm,” Lürssen says.
