Palumbo Group reaches another successful milestone

After a year of the Group’s successful growth of its services from Messina and Naples to the Malta Shipyard, the Group recently acquired the Malta Superyacht Facilities. The Yacht Yard is fully in operation and has, in just a few weeks, carried out over 30 Superyacht projects projecting an extensive portfolio including amongst others the Atlantis II, Pelorus, Phocea, Prince Abdulaziz, Senses and Slip Stream.

The Super Yacht Facility covering an area 45,000 sq mtrs includes two drydocks (170Lx25mW) including 130m high paint retractable shed extending 130 mtr and 300 mtr berths. Docks and quays are served with rail mounted cranes with a maximum lifting capacity of 50 tons.

Palumbo Group is not a newcomer in the yachting field and operates as the exclusive builder for Columbus Yachts in Naples. Columbus177′ Prima was recently launched at the shipyard in Naples and she will be displayed during next Monaco Yacht Show. Precious materials, construction standards, the most advanced technology and the obtained classification create a modern, luxurious, comfortable and environmentally friendly yacht with low power consumption and a reduction in noise and environmental pollution with the obtained RINA Green Star Plus as an additional notation class.

By September 2011, Palumbo Malta Superyachts will offer a range of services including a showroom displaying one of the best yachting products, and also its refit and repair services, including amongst others, engine overhaul, furnishing and woodwork tapestry for an extensive type of yachts including the fiberglass smaller boats.

In fact, the Yacht Yard is planning to have a separate open air area for smaller yachts, ranging between 18m to 48m with a maximum 300 DWT. This area will have a slipway and will be equipped with a syncrolift and a Self Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) able to transport Yachts up to 300DWT. Moreover, a renovated building close to the yard will be utilized as an ideal protective shed for painting works, storage for the winter season and other possible uses required.

Further exciting developments are at design stage, with plans to renovate an old Smithery into a complex for Captains and crew including duplex apartments with magnificent harbor views, fully equipped gymnasium, self service kitchenette and dining area, bar, Captain’s office including wifi connections, and a relaxing and socializing area including lounge area, TV room and two open air large terraces. A helipad will also be developed to add to the enjoyment, comfort and accessibility of the yard.
