Simon Cowell was involved in a superyacht rescue late last week when a yacht believed to be the 43-metre Baglietto Sofia 3 got into difficulties in the gulf of St-Tropez. According to newspaper Var-Matin, the yacht’s captain said she was buffeted by waves from behind, and took on water aft. A distress call was sent out and, according to reports, the 60-metre CMN Slipstream, which was being chartered by music mogul Cowell, responded as the nearest vessel. One of Slipstream’s tenders was dispatched to transport the nine passengers on board the yacht to safety. The water was pumped out of the stricken vessel overnight and she was later towed to the port of Marines de Cogolin. The incident is being investigated.
