Spanish homerun at the 24th running of the Club Yachting Life Cruising Rally in Ibiza

A ketch from an owner in Spain and a Swiss ‘Bull’ won the Regatta

14 sailing yachts, including eight super yachts up to 42 meters in size, met from 2-5 June 2011 at the 24th running of the Club Yachting Life Rally hosted by dahm international. The Monaco based brokerage company is the only one in the world to host such a yearly sailing event for its clients.

This year, the new Marina Ibiza was the base for diverse cruising legs and the starting point of an exciting race to the sister island Formentera and back.

Herbert Dahm, his team and colleagues from the new Marina Ibiza welcomed guests in front of the captain’s lounge at the new harbour on the first evening. This night also saw the inauguration of the terrace with its wonderful view on the old town of Ibiza.

The following morning, the long leg of the Pantaenius Race Day started with changing winds, calms and rain showers. Although she had a disadvantageous starting position at first, the fighting Swiss crew of the 22 metre Jongert Toro Del Mar managed to move far ahead of her sister ship, Herbert Dahm’s ‘Inspiration’, in the regatta class of the sloops. Thanks to her usual berth on Ibiza, the Swiss knew their home waters best.

The owner of the smaller ‘Agarimo IV’ (17.3m) won with his crew ahead of the Jongert yacht of his father, the ‘Agarimo V’ (21.60m).

On Saturday, 14 yachts sailed to Es Vedra, the spectacular and legendary rocky bay in the south of Ibiza. Under a canopy of magnificent sunshine, the Club Yachting Life fleet anchored in the bay, while owners and crew enjoyed fresh Paella and Sangria in the El Carmen restaurant. Herbert Dahm received applause and standing ovations as he later returned to the group with his broken leg.

Shimmering sunlight and one of the most beautiful bays on the island created the idyllic setting for the finale on Sunday: After two hours sailing, the 14 yachts arrived in the waters off the beach club Amante, where they anchored on the rocky ground. Immediately, a brisk taxi business was set up: Instead of putting your own tender into the water, your neighbour’s dinghy picked you up and took you to shore.

After a Mediterranean meal with a stunning view over the picturesque bay, it was time for the farewell. Herbert Dahm gave his sincere thanks to the partners of the 24th Club Yachting Life Rally for their support, the new Marina Ibiza as partner as well as Pantaenius and Slam as official sponsor.
