Wally Launches Y3K in Ancona

The new 30 metre sloop Y3K from Wally has been craned into the water at Ancona.

Photos of the new Y3K can be seen here.

The new Y3K is an evolution of the old Y3K yacht, a 94-foot sloop which was sold and renamed Angel’s Share by her new owners

Her owner will use this boat to race competitively as he has done with his previous yachts and is expected to make her first appearance at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo,6-12 September .

The deck layout features twin helming positions, a slim coach roof with a central skylight flooding natural light to the central corridor down below, and a large cockpit amidships with table and seats that can accommodate eight people.

Those enjoying the exhilarating sail the yacht is expected to offer can use a second and slightly smaller cockpit aft, in complete safety.

The interior accommodates up to eight guests and four crew. The owner’s stateroom is forward with a large queen-size bed, plenty of storage cabinets, and a forward ensuite bathroom.

Two identical guest double cabins are on either side of the central corridor, each featuring twin beds a Pullman for occasional use and an ensuite bathroom. Owner’s and guests cabins are separated from the crew, navigation and service areas by a door to enhance privacy and quite.

The new high volume yacht carries a powerful sail plan and features many underwater appendages similar to those used by competing yachts in the last America’s Cup. She has a trim-tab fixed keel, PBO rigging is in PBO, and a carbon fibre mast developed by High Modulus. Her 3-metre long bowsprit allows for the carriage of more downwind sail area. Her hull has been constructed using the latest composite technology with pre-preg carbon to keep the displacement to just 57 tons.
