One of the most striking sailing yachts of the recent times, Doña Francisca is the brainchild of a successful entrepreneur that has dedicated his entire life to the sea transportation. Built entirely in carbon fiber with a total length of 52.50 meter (172ft) and a deck length of 45.8 meter (150ft), Doña Francisca is the world’s largest schooner of her kind. The inspiration came from the English pilot cutters of the early 20th century with their plumb bows and stream lines aiming to create a retro-look, high-tech fast yacht. The result is a Neo-classic yacht with an eye-catching style, capable of exhilarating performances and worldwide cruising.Hull and deck were fully built on a proven lightweight and strength “sandwich” method, using carbon-fiber skins impregnated with epoxy resin over a rigid pvc foam core. The critical vacuum-bagging resin infusion process was fully designed and controlled by the world’s top experts and the exceptional quality achieved was inspected and certified by RINA. Enhancing her classic look, the deck is covered with a Burmese teak layer while the deck salon, dog house and cockpit are finished with Cedar. All the deck fittings and blocks were made with a special bronze alloy to a precise hue of green, including the winches and windlasses bodies over Harken systems.The bespoke Edwardian décor and loose furniture is beautifully executed in Mahogany wood from Bolivia and the flooring is a nice combination of Cherry and Chestnut woods.Doña Francisca was designed and built to be easily run by a short crew of 5 using push-buttons on the cockpit to effortlessly control the entire rig with hydraulic-electric systems.RINA inspected and certified the project, engineering, materials, equipment and construction process during the almost 4 years to completion and her overall final quality place this one-off vessel on the same league as icons like Meteor (Royal Huisman) and Marie (Vitters) - with a 25% lighter total displacement. To materialize this dream yacht to perfection a team of experts was assembled, including:- Javier Soto Acebal - one of the most influential naval architects of our time - renowned by his fast and beautiful yachts - was widely responsible for all aspects of her design and engineering, from the hull shape to deck cleats to cabinets corners.- Ezequiel Sirito (Argentina) – the “maestro” behind some of the most important vessels built at King Marine (TP 52, Volvo Ocean Race, America’s Cup, etc) was the project manager that “tortured” everyone involved in her building with an “absolute quality” commitment.- Pierre Calmon from Resoltech (France) was behind the quality of the resins and precision of the critical infusion process.
