A new 42-metre concept from Sauter Carbon Offset Design promises to be one of the greenest fast superyachts in the world, reaching maximum speeds of 55 knots. The Ocean Supremacy runs on a hybrid propulsion system powered by solar, wind and wave energy (working together with biomass diesel power). Accorsing to the manufacturer, “The Ocean Supremacy is more than twice as fast as most superyachts yet consumes half as much fuel and produces less than half as many GHG emissions by employing a diversity of renewable power sources.”
Notable features include a sundeck with pool area for sunbathing and entertaining plus an open-air cinema, and there is accommodation for ten, with an full-beam owner’s suite on the upper deck.
Her cruising range varies, from 3,600 nautical miles (if using solar hybrid or carbon neutral power) to unlimited if you run it with zero carbon power. Energy-saving onboard technology includes SunPower solar panels, Energy Star LED lighting with waste heat recovery and electric motors from Siemens. The yacht is able to shut down upto six of her diesels to reduce consumption rates at any speed and her draft is just one metre.
