With a last-day win making it two wins in four races, the 43.4-metre Claasen superyacht Lionheart came out on top of the Js in the five-strong field at the Superyacht Cup in Palma. Consistent finishes from Ranger (a second and three thirds) saw the yacht placed third overall. Hanuman finished third ahead of Rainbow and Velsheda. “This was the one we wanted to win because this is where we have the five boats. Last year we were leading until the last day and then we lost it. We had a bad start then and could not get back. Today, we got a good start and got bounced back a bit, but we got back into it and clawed our way back to first and from there on it was quite easy,” said tactician Bouwe Bekking after the final race.
The overall winner of the Superyacht Cup was Unfurled, the 34.2-metre Royal Huisman, which was only beaten once in her Class 2 section.
