Icon Yachts‘ latest 62.5-metre Maidelle was in Norway just before Christmas for the official handover to her owners, with the wintery weather giving her crew a rare opportunity to show their snow-clearing skills.
Extremely bad weather meant the cruise north was through big waves, strong winds and heavy snowfall, but her Captain Donald Heath certainly wasn’t complaining. “I’m very pleased with the build quality of the yacht – she behaved very well on delivery in some pretty awful weather. I am very pleased with the performance of Maidelle, especially from an engineering perspective. The boat is very easy to handle and sails perfectly,” he says. “The high bow keeps solid water off the deck, and we were able to maintain a good speed even in quite rough weather with minimal slamming.”
Maidelle has probably seen her last blizzard for a while: she is now heading for Spain, where she’ll spend the season on charter.
The third yacht in Icon’s 62.5-metre platform, Maidelle boasts room for 12 guests with a split-level owner’s suite that incorporates a private lounge with fine views. Exterior styling is Redman Whiteley Dixon, while the interior is by Cristiano Gatto. To see inside Maidelle, click here:
