Fresh from the success of the stunning 54-metre Columbus 177 Prima, the Palumbo yard has signed a contract to build a new 40-metre, the semi-displacement, all- aluminium Columbus Sport 130 Hybrid. The new yacht builds on the green credentials of Prima, which was awarded a RINA Green Star Plus by HSH Prince Albert II at the Monaco Yacht Show: Palumbo has incorporated a hybrid propulsion option that allows running quietly and emissions-free off electrical power to a top speed of 7.5 knots. The yacht’s naval architecture is the work of Hydro Tec, who also designed Prima.

This is clearly a yacht that puts the emphasis on outside entertaining, with a spacious flybridge that boasts a bar, plus an alfresco dining area and shaded area aft on the main deck, both of which can be adapted to the number of guests. There is also an appealing seating area on the foredeck.

Inside the 130 there are three guest cabins and an owner’s suite. The interior, by Hot Lab Yacht & Design in Milan, will feature ‘warm’ materials such as marble, teak and sirocco. She is due to launch in 2013. The yard also has a 60-metre in build.
