Blohm+Voss has announced one of its most momentous projects to date, and it’s one not many people predicted.

bv80 3Designs for the iconic German yard’s first semi-custom superyacht have been unveiled, with an emphasis on the flexibility of the interior design and potential for fast delivery.

The BV80 is an 80-metre full displacement motor yacht with a cruising speed of 16 knots and capacity for 12 guests and 23 crew. In depth market research was undertaken by Blohm+Voss and the designers Eidsgaard Design to try and understand what modern owners wanted, and efforts have been made to include all the essential features, such as swimming pools and helipads, and as many as possible of the “wow factor” features, such as an open fire pit and double height glass.

bv80 2Whilst known for their more extreme and pioneering builds such as Lady Moura, A and Enigma (ex-Eco), the 137-year-old yard is hoping to tap into the semi-custom market that yards such as Amels have proved works so well, and open up the shipbuilder’s illustrious history to a wider market and at a more affordable price.

The BV80 is due to be officially unveiled to the public at the Monaco Yacht Show. Blohm + Voss aim to be able to deliver the yacht for 2017 if ordered before the new year. Contact yachtsales@blohmvoss.com for more details.
