K40 is a 40-metre expedition superyacht that will be project managed by the Floating Life team, which was instrumental in the choice of yard.

The build will start this month, with Studio Sculli drawing the exterior lines and Vannini-Oleggini in charge of naval engineering. A steel Light Ice Class hull and aluminium superstructure ensure she will be capable of cruising to many of the world’s remote destinations. The superstructure will be characterised by a wealth of glass and modern lines.

K40 was designed in conjuction with her American owner’s specific requests, which include a fourth deck for private use by the owner, spacious interior and exterior spaces and a large tender garage amidships.

The theme of the yacht will be minimalist and neutral, with well-lit spaces and lacquered wood juxtaposing soft fabrics. Each deck boasts its own pantry, and there is a large beach club that holds a theatre and diving equipment. Elsewhere on the yacht open-air dining spaces and sunbathing areas are important, and there is a barbecue and bar on the sundeck.

Floating Life CEO Andrea Pezzini, project manager and owner’s representative, says: “The choice of CCN is the result of a selection process involving ten yards worldwide. What tipped the scales was not only an excellent quality to price ratio, but above all the yard’s willingness to examine a completely custom project created to be able to undertake a voyage around the world. Similarly, the decision to award the design to the Studio Sculli is a result of twenty years of trust and collaboration, with the complete harmony of Sculli’s design characteristics to the desires of the client. The union between trust and confirmed collaboration gave us the possibility to work in a completely custom mode, concentrating all the acquired experience of Floating Life in managing the development of a new project, including the structural aspects considered essential over the years that would give the yacht a longer lifespan.”

Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of CCN, says: “I’m really very happy that Floating Life Charter & Brokerage decided to choose us from among the many international yards considered. This new challenge enables us to exploit our expertise in megayacht construction and to demonstrate the unique characteristics of flexibility and quality of our yard in a completely custom project with demanding design requirements.”

K40 is the first yacht in the yard’s Fuoriserie line, which builds exclusively custom yachts.
