The 50-metre McMullen & Wing YN 1016 was launched last week and has already undergone her first sea trials.
The striking sky-blue hull of the McMullen & Wing YN 1016 was spotted out on the Waitemata Harbour off Auckland undergoing her first sea trials.
The yacht is the largest ever built by the New Zealand yard and is the second in its Diamond Series, the first of which was the iconic and multi-award-winning 45-metre Big Fish. Both yachts were designed by Greg Marshall.
Although without her mast, the yacht exceeded her predicted speed during sea trials and has a range of 6,000 nautical miles.
The yacht was launched on the morning of January 12 before a gathering of guests and professionals, which included the families of all who had worked on the yacht during her build. CEO Michael Eaglen paid tribute to all who had worked on her and risen to the challenge of a demanding time pressure.
