The iconic regatta is taking place at the beginning of September in Porto Cervo.
The event, last held in 2013, is exclusively for yachts built by the Italian yard and consists of three days of regatta sailing. Once again the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda will be hosting the event, in the Mediterranean waters off Sardinia. The event this year is being held 2-5 September and SuperYacht World will be there with daily round-ups and all the latest pictures.
So far confirmed are 2015’s Perseus^3, which featured in SYW 45, the first of the Perini Navi 60-metre Series Seahawk, the 45-metre Clan VIII and the 56-metre Melek. Completing the line-up are the 56-metre Silvana, 30-metre Xnoi, 56-metre Bayesian, 38-metre P2, 45-metre Helios, 56-metre Rosehearty, 40-metre Ellen, 53-metre Jasall II, 40-metre Principessa and 25-metre Elettra.
Also attending as a spectator is the iconic three-masted superyacht Maltese Falcon, which won the first Baccarat SuperYacht World Trophy in 2013. The yacht, at 88 metres, is the largest in the line up. Also set to attend is the first Picchiotti Vitruvius collaboration Exuma, who is back from cruising the Pacific. A specific owner-request on board the 50-metre Philippe Briand-designed yacht was room for a large array of exploration toys, including a submarine and diving equipment.
The yard says: “For a few intense days approximately 13 Perini Navi yachts will challenge each other in the emerald waters of North-East Sardinia, following the new ORC SY Handicapping Rule, with a full race programme organised by the YCCS international race committee. The on-the-water action will be accompanied by a glamorous programme of post-race events. The unique combination of competitive racing, social activities and a true sense of ‘family’ is the secret formula of the Perini Navi Cup.”
