More and more superyacht and megayacht owners these days are insisting on a submarine in the garage, and now the design team at motion code: blue has taken that idea to its logical conclusion: the superyacht submarine. The 115-metre Migaloo is based on the lines of a modern submarine, with a slender 11-metre beam, offering owners the chance to really get away from it all in perfect comfort and security.

The conning area is configured with an elevator, while the forward spaces are dedicated to a split-level owner’s suite, offering a shaded deck area and a private lounge. There are another eight VIP suites as well as a cinema room, a library and a gym. On deck there are folding terraces to open up the internal spaces and a pool on deck (the bottom of which raises when the boat dives). Specially strengthened glass in the hull means a great underwater view when the water is clear enough. She’s designed to reach a depth of 240 metres. Crew areas are on the decks below the guest areas.

There are undoubtedly a host of technical challenges to overcome before the Migaloo becomes reality, but the next time one of the world’s navies is upgrading its fleet, there may be one or two interested superyacht owners looking at a conversion. For more images click here:
