Wider’s amazing Fulvio De Simoni-designed 150 superyacht, featuring folding terraces and a huge beach club aft with its own swimming pool, is set to go into production. A number of changes have been made to the original concept unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2011. This includes the addition of two terraces to the master cabin and an increase in the yacht’s beam. The yacht will also sport diesel-electric propulsion, while the build will now be in aluminium, rather than composite. The yard, which also has plans for Wider 100 and 120 models, says that a few months of technical work on the revamped 150 concept are still needed, but once under way the build will be completed in 28 months. It is anticipated that the semi-planing hull will deliver a top speed of 20 knots.
The Wider 42, with its impressive extending cockpit sides that slide out to increase the usable cockpit space, has been a big hit at boat shows in the past couple of years. The 150 will come with a Wider 32 tender in the garage. A key aspect of the yacht is the direct contact you get with the outdoors. The enclosed sundeck salon has folding terraces, while in the full-beam owner’s cabin on the main deck, a terrace in the salon/office opens to create a private terrace overlooking the sea.
The tender’s entry and exit is via a floating launching system, and once deployed the space transforms into a sea water swimming pool surrounded by two side wings. The rest of the water toys are housed at the bow, while the foredeck can be configured as a touch’n’go helipad on request. There are four suites for guests on the lower deck.
